STRAIGHT MOUTHPIECE FLUTE

Modern Maya flutes are made of carrizo cane, very similar to thin bamboo. They usually have six finger holes, but examples with three holes also exist. The flutes vary in size, length and width. In some areas, due to deforestation, the carrizo cane cannot be found and metal has replaced the traditional cane.
