Guitar in Guatemala

GUITARRILLA

Esto instrumento de los mas primitivos del conjunto musical de cuerdas. tiene una caja de resonancia hecha de calabaza cubierta con una tapa de madera delgada y rustica pegada con cera de abeja. y con cin cuerdas que originalmente eran de origen animal, Acompanan los conjuntos que Incluyen un arpa diatonica y violin. La Guitarrilla, raremente utilizada hoy an dia, ha sido reemplazada por las guitarras modernas mandolinas y guitarrones.

GUITARRILLA

This is the most primitive of the string instruments. It has a resonator box made from a gourd, covered with a thin, crude wooden top, glued with bee’s wax and has five strings that, in the early days, were of animal origin. It is used with ensembles that include the diatonic harp and violin. Rarely used today, it has been replaced by various modern guitars mad mandolins.
