We had the opportunity recently to visit the chocolate museum in Antigua, Guatemala (http://guatemala.chocomuseo.com/), and were treated to a great variety of detailed information boards regarding chocolate production — information was provided in both English and Spanish.
We’ll highlight a few of those boards in the next couple posts on this blog, and we start below with a breakdown of how much chocolate can be produced from one cacao tree. Enjoy!
Spanish:
1 hectarea de chakra, 530 arboles, 10 quintales de cacao, 3680 barras de chocolate
1 arbol de cacao = 7 barras de chocolate al ano
Spanish to English translation:
1 hectare of land, 530 cacao trees, 450 kg of cacao, 3,680 bars of chocolate
1 cacao tree = 7 bars of chocolate per year
